Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place at 5 o'clock in the evening on the Elizabeth River at the waterfront home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Stephen Perry, II in Portsmouth, Virginia. The ceremony and reception locations are steps from the bride's childhood home. Charles William Hall, friend of the groom and Vanderbilt Divinity School candidate (December '13), officiated.

Bride's Dress, Veil, etc

The bride's dress was ivory silk with a delicate vintage ivory lace overlay. The bride wore a bejeweled hair barrette and butterfly pin that belonged to her late grandmother Foster.The bouquet, designed by the bride's family, featured Picasso Calla Lilies, Delphinium Orchids and Sahara Roses enrobed in ivory silk ribbon.

Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids

Mrs. Stephanie Foster Cox of Richmond, Va, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Ms. Emma Anderson May of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Cara Morris Stern of Washington, DC, Ms. Tracie Sue Sunday of Seattle, Wash. and Mrs. Perry Johnson Todd of Roanoke, Va.

Best Man and Groomsmen

Mr. Charles William Hall of Nashville served as officiant and best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Gary Nixon “Nick” Bishop, junior of Nashville, Mr. Robert Edward Lee Cox, junior of Richmond, VA, Mr. Trent David Henry of Nashville, Mr. Thomas Charles Kowalski, junior of Tulsa, Ok, Mr. Scott Oliver McCrary of Washington, DC, Mr. Edward “Owen” Tidwell of Nashville and Mr. Matthew Franklin Vickers of Norman, Ok.

The flower girl was Miss Harriett “Hattie” Mendoza Todd, goddaughter of the bride, of Roanoke, Va. The ring bearer was Master Ryan Gage I'Anson of Roanoke, Virginia. “Let Love Be Real” by Michael Forster was read by Mrs. Emily Seekins Peter of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Elizabeth Childs Sommer of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Eileen Force Cahill of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Mrs. Jacqueline Delaney Hurley of Washington, DC served as greeters.

Reception

The bride's parents hosted dinner and dancing following the ceremony at Woman's Club of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va. A seated dinner menu of traditional southern fare was complemented by an artisanal cheese board, craft beer from Nashville's Little Harpeth Brewery, owned by family of the groom and gourmet coffees. As an ode to the couple's employer, they presented a three-tier chocolate wedding cake with white buttercream icing from Walmart, accented with sugar spun orchids, roses and calla lilies to match the bride's bouquet.

Carrie is a graduate of Norfolk Academy and Wake Forest University and received an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University. She is employed by the Corporate Affairs division of Wal-mart Stores, Inc. in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Groom's Employment

Matthew is a graduate of Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School of Nashville and Texas Christian University. He is employed by the Merchandise Replenishment division of Wal-mart Stores, Inc. in Bentonville, Arkansas.
