Our Love Story
Caleb and Lauren met on the first day of their Senior year in college. Both of them were attending Dr. Doy Zachry's class called Stratigraphy and Sedimentation. As the friendship grew, the two began hanging out more through coffee study sessions and bus rides from campus since the two lived within a mile of each other.
The Proposal
Caleb and Lauren love going on picnics. So, Caleb decided to take Lauren out to Crystal Lake, a beautiful place just outside of Decatur, AR. Geologically wise, this place has fantastic epikarst features that can be explored. Caleb and Lauren sat down to a smorgasbord of goodies that he had fixed the night before, including a brownie that he made icing for also. He wrote on the brownie, but did not propose at that moment. He kept her in suspense. The water was flowing through all of the fractures and joints, creating beautiful ambiance and amazing turbulence in some of the pockets of rocks. After the meal was consumed, Caleb walked Lauren over to the waterfall that was cascading off of the limestone cliff-face and she walked barefooted in the water around the falls. He had yet to ask, but both were relishing the nature around them and enjoying the day. As Lauren thought they were about to leave, Caleb asked her if she would like to fish for a minute. She said, sure, and he gave her a rod that just frustrated her...It was not the style she normally used and there was a peculiar popping bug tied on ...By the third cast, she was in a tangled mess, and he offered to fix it...Caleb handed Lauren his fishing rod with something unique tied on...A ring! When Lauren realized what was on the swivel snap, she looked over and saw Caleb down on one knee proposing!
